We are talking about a trial dedicated to the possible corruption in the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) in the context of organizing a country`s super -cup in Saudi Arabia. Earlier it was reported that the investigation was begun in connection with the signs of corruption and laundering of money discovered in the transaction with Saudi Arabia about the conduct of the Spanish Super Cup in the country, according to which RFEF receives 40 million euros annually.
On March 20, the Civil Guard of Spain conducted searches in the building of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, as well as in more than 10 houses, including the house of the ex-head of the Federation Luis Rubiales.
The Civil Guard of Spain also requested the tracking of the accounts of the former Barcelona player for possible payments to Rubiales and other representatives of the RFEF leadership in the process of negotiations on the postponement of the tournament, since Kosmos owned by the peak participated in the transaction.
In September 2023, the Civil Guard appealed to a judge investigating an agreement with Saudi Arabia, demanding that Andorra request a report on funds received by Kosmos. The Civil Guard states that in the period from June 2019 to March 2022, about 3, 4 million euros were received at Andorra`s account from the Kosmos account, which received commission payments from the Saudi company SELA for mediation in the Spanish Super Cup. The amounts received at the club`s account amounted to about a quarter of the commission, the size of which was about 4 million euros per year.
Experts noted that most of the funds from the Kosmos account, which received payments from the Saudi company, were displayed to accounts of the same group or related to them. It was argued that the peak could make payments from his accounts in order to make it difficult to track the movement of funds.
